Frederick NCI/MRMC/NIAID Combined Bioinformatics and Chemoinformatics Forum

Mission Statement

The mission of the Frederick Forum on Bioinformatics and Chemoinformatics is to facilitate and enable scientific interaction and collaboration among scientists working at Ft. Detrick by creating enhanced opportunities for information and resource sharing, and by identifying and seeking to minimize barriers to bioinformatics and chemoinformatics resources. The Forum is intended to complement other Bioinformatics groups within the participant organizations by focusing on Frederick-specific issues such as leveraging and efficient use of local resources.

Calendar of Activities

An intensive day of informatics demos and tutorials, led by individuals from the participant organizations is scheduled for June 7 in Building 549 in Frederick. Each topic area is envisioned as having a demo, followed by a tutorial. There will be no advanced registration, and the demos will be open to all, but tutorial attendees will register in advance. The following possible topics/instructors were mentioned, although this list should be regarded as a rough first draft only.

  1. TRACE analysis - Bert Gold
  2. RNA Structure Analysis - Bruce Shapiro
  3. TIGER Biosensor (IBIS) - Kevin Anderson
  4. BioSPICE packages - Frank Lebeda
