Important Message from Computer & Statistical Services (C&SS)
Hello all,
First, we would like to thank everyone for your cooperation and understanding during our efforts to validate laptop encryption at the NCI-Frederick. Without the support of the NCI-Frederick community we would have been unable to comply with this important mandate.
Second, we would like to ask your assistance one last time: if you are in possession of a Government-owned, Windows XP or Windows Vista laptop that has NOT been certified by DMS staff, please contact the Computer Helpdesk at helpdesk@css.ncifcrf.gov or X-5115.
Last, we would like to take a moment to reiterate the importance of identifying and securing sensitive data and "Personally Identifiable Information" (PII), regardless of where it is stored. Specifically, no sensitive data or PII should be stored on any non-approved device including: unencrypted laptops, unencrypted "Thumb Drives" or external hard drives, CD's or DVD's, or floppy diskettes. If you have questions regarding this policy, please contact the Computer Helpdesk at helpdesk@css.ncifcrf.gov or X-5115. In addition, NIH has published the following information to assist employees in this matter:
