Nomination Form Instructions

Provide sufficient detail to ensure proper consideration of the nominations          
Each nomination must include a written justification (More than 100 words, but less than 300 words).  The justification should address the reason the employee is eligible for the award and should be specific about the level and nature of the accomplishment. Qualifications of a nominee might include: impact, significance, degree of commitment beyond normal job expectations, originality, etc.  A separate Nomination Form should be submitted for any employee you wish to have considered for more than one award category.  (Nominations for an individual for multiple awards in a single nomination form will not be accepted.  If you nominated someone last year and they were not selected for an award, please feel free to re-nominate.  Previous Recipients may be nominated in a different category for a different effort.  (A list of last years recipients can be found by clicking HERE.)

Distinguished Career Service Award
  A Distinguished Career Service Award may be granted annually to an SAIC-Frederick, Inc. employee with at least ten years of service at the NCI-Frederick and Bethesda campuses who has, throughout the course of his/her career, improved the quality of science and/or the work environment at the NCI-Frederick/Bethesda campuses.

Norman P. Salzman Mentoring Award (NSMA)
  The Norman P. Salzman Mentoring award may be granted annually to an SAIC-Frederick, Inc., scientist who most personifies Dr. Salzman’s lifetime commitment to the guidance and direction of others in the pursuit of scientific excellence. Nominees for this award may be from any area of science.
 
Describe the nominee’s mentoring activities and how they have contributed to the pursuit of scientific excellence. (More than 100 words, but less than 300 words)

 
 
Outstanding Achievement Award
  An Outstanding Achievement Award may be granted annually to an SAIC-Frederick, Inc. employee(s) for consistent outstanding efforts in support of stellar science at the NCI-Frederick. This award may be given on an individual or team basis. Please note that there are 3 awards for this category (listed below).

Special Achievement Award
  A Special Achievement Award may be granted to an SAIC-Frederick, Inc., employee(s) for a specific achievement of a nonrecurring nature that has resulted in the support of the science performed at the NCI-Frederick and Bethesda campuses. Examples may include the completion of a special project, outstanding site visit, organization of specific research-related event, or a cost saving discovery or procedure.

A Cost Savings Award may be granted to an SAIC-Frederick, Inc. employee for a suggested cost savings initiative that has been implemented and proven to have provided a significant savings to the program.
