EHS Requirements for Laboratory Photographs

Safety equipment which is required in a specific laboratory environment must be in use in photographs of the laboratory, or the image will not be approved for display or publication by the department of Environment, Health and Safety. It’s a good idea to review the requirements for your lab, and to make sure that all necessary safety clothing and equipment is in proper use before making photographs.

Getting Your Slide Images Made into Digital Files

You can have digital files made from your slide film. After processing the film, we’ll scan each frame and save the scan in the proper format and at the resolution you need for your specific project. To save time and expense, we recommend that you review your processed film before scanning, to make sure that your images came out like you expected, and to select the images that you need to have scanned.

Getting Photographic Quality Prints from Your Digital Files

We can make photographic quality prints right from your PowerPoint files and from several other programs and file formats.

Supported Software

To make sure that you get good results from your PowerPoint files, keep these tips in mind:

Page setup

We recommend that you set your file up for a page size of 8-1/2” x 11”. Choose “Letter Paper” from Page Setup under the File menu. You’ll get the best results if you make sure that the resolution of any embedded images is between 150 to 300 dpi, at final output size.

Fonts & Symbols

We recommend that you use TrueType fonts for all of your work in PowerPoint, because PowerPoint can embed these fonts, so that your text always looks like it’s supposed to look. If you use a PC, make sure that you choose the option “Embed TrueType fonts”, found under “Tools > Options > Save”.

If you’re using Delta Graph, be sure to use Delta Graph’s built in symbols. Otherwise, if you have slides made from your presentation, or if you move your presentation to another computer, your boxes and triangles may show up as letters instead of shapes! To use this option, select the graph and go to “Chart > Symbols” and select “built in symbols.”
