Play and Learning Station - Policies
STATE LICENSING
We understand the importance of maintaining strict compliance with the state
licensing regulations in order to ensure a quality environment for children.
All of our schools comply with the applicable state licensing regulations
and policies. These requirements cover aspects relating to staff qualifications,
facility, playground, health and safety guidelines/procedures, and staff/child
ratios.
ENROLLMENT
All forms provided to you upon enrollment must be completed before your child
may attend school. All requested personal information is kept confidential.
Please be sure to update all emergency data as needed, including address,
home and work telephone numbers, and individuals authorized to pick up your
child.
Knowledge Learning Corporation does not discriminate on the basis of a person’s
religion, color, race, sex, age, national origin, disability, or Vietnam Era
status regarding considerations such as enrollment and hiring.
PAYMENT POLICY
Our tuition schedule has been established to provide your child with the best
possible care at the most reasonable cost to you. Your fee is payable in
advance of the date of service. Quoted tuition is based on payment by the
date due. Alternative tuition schedules may apply to payments made after
that date. Repeated failure to pay tuition by the date due may result in
termination of services. Please see the tuition schedule for additional information
on our payment policy. If you have any questions, consult with your director.
ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE
It is important that your child’s day begin on a positive note. When
you bring your child to the school, make sure to let the teacher know your
child has arrived. Many children enjoy it when their parents spend a few moments
in the classroom when they arrive at the school. At pick-up time, feel free
to spend time in the classroom and talk with our teachers about your child’s
day.
All students must be signed in and out on our computer in accordance with
the company policy. Please ask the director if you have any questions regarding
the procedure.
CHILD PICKUP
Teachers will release a child only to the person who enrolled the child or
someone authorized in writing by that person. Under no circumstances will
your child be permitted to leave with anyone other than those people designated
in writing on the proper authorization form. Anyone picking up a child may
be asked for a photo ID so that individual should always have one available
when picking up your child.
As required by individual state regulations, a parent or guardian shall provide
a certified copy of any existing restraining order or child custody order that
affects their child.
LATE PICKUP
Please make every effort to pick up your child on time. If lateness is unavoidable,
notify the school IMMEDIATELY so that a staff member is made available to
supervise your child and to help minimize any fears your child may have.
Please arrange
to have your child picked up by another adult designated by you on your emergency
forms. Different tuition rates may apply to children picked up after closing
time. Consult the tuition schedule for the exact amount. If your child is not picked up within one half-hour following closing and
the parent or another designated adult has not arrived or contacted the school,
the director may need to contact local authorities and release the child to
their custody.
HOLIDAYS / SCHOOL CLOSINGS
The school will be closed in recognition of various holidays throughout the
year. A list of all holiday closings will be provided by your director. From
time to time the school will be closed as a result of inclement weather or
emergencies. There is no reduction in tuition as a result of such closings.
BIRTHDAYS
Birthdays are special days for children. If you wish to celebrate your child’s
birthday at the school, please make early arrangements with your child’s
teacher. Hard or chewy candy and balloons are not permitted because they pose
a choking risk.
CLOTHING
The most appropriate clothes for the school day are easy fitting, comfortable,
washable, play clothes. Please provide long pants in cold weather and shoes
that are good for running and climbing. Please bring an extra set of clothes
for your child.
Mark all clothing with indelible ink or name labels. We encourage children
to take care of their clothing; however, the school cannot be responsible for
lost, stained, soiled, or torn clothing.
INFANT / TODDLER SUPPLIES
You are required to provide diapers and wipes for your child unless otherwise
specifically stated in your enrollment materials.
Given the variability of parental preferences in relation to the food intake
of infant/ toddlers, you are asked to provide all food for infants and toddlers
until they begin eating regular table food. At that point, children’s
food will be provided according to individual school policy. Bottles must be
clearly labeled with the date and child’s name. Bottles should not be
left at the school overnight; in the event this occurs, the contents of the
bottle will be discarded.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS
We ask that you not let your child bring toys from home to the school because
they may create some tension and jealousy. However, if your child uses a
special blanket or “cuddly” to sleep with or to help you child
feel secure, you may certainly bring that. Please make sure that any such
item is labeled with your child’s name and that the teacher is aware
that you have brought it. The school does not assume responsibility for items
brought from home. Many of our classrooms schedule special sharing days when
children are encouraged to bring a favorite item from home to show to the
other children.
STAFF QUALIFICATIONS
The quality of our staff is an important determinant in the quality of our
program. We strive to maintain high quality staff by providing a variety
of in-services and other professional opportunities. At a minimum, the following
qualifications are met:
- All state background check requirements are met.
- Physician’s health
form is required for each staff member and kept on file at
the school.
- Teachers must meet or exceed state licensing requirements in
education and
experience.
- State CPR and first aid requirements are met.
CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES
Our school complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other
applicable regulations pertaining to providing services to individuals with
disabilities. We carefully consider each child’s individual needs in
order to determine if our program can accommodate a child’s special
needs. If your child is disabled or has any other special needs, please discuss
your child’s needs with the director.
BABYSITTING
Some parents may wish to engage a school employee for the purpose of babysitting
outside of the school. Employees may decide to do so at their own discretion,
but we assume no responsibility for any individual who cares for a child
outside the school program. As part of the enrollment process, you will be
asked to sign a Babysitting Authorization Form indicating that you understand
that the school is not responsible for the care of your child while he/she
is not in attendance at the school, nor are we responsible for the actions
of any staff member during the employee’s non-work hours.
WITHDRAWALS / DISENROLLMENT
We require a minimum of two weeks advance written notice of your child’s
withdrawal. This provides an opportunity to notify another family regarding
the availability of that space. Our school reserves the right to disenroll
a child from the program at any time as deemed necessary or appropriate with
or without notice.
SCHOOL OWNERSHIP
Our school is operated by Knowledge Learning Corporation, with headquarters
in San Rafael, in California.
