Parking at NCI-Frederick
 
The National Cancer Institute at Frederick (NCI-Frederick) Parking Plan is designed to provide parking for employees while maintaining access to buildings for emergency, service, and visitor vehicles. Parking is authorized only in areas designated by a white line on both sides of the parking space.

Reserved Parking Spaces
Parking spaces may be designated as reserved for specific purposes (see below).

HANDICAPPED spaces are reserved for vehicles with a state-issued handicapped license plate or permit, or vehicles with a temporary handicapped parking permit issued by Protective Services (Bldg. 426) as authorized by Occupational Health Services (Bldg. 426). Use of a handicapped space is authorized only if the handicapped person is transported in the vehicle.

VISITOR spaces are reserved for visitors to NCI-Frederick. Employees are not authorized to use visitor spaces.

OFFICIAL USE spaces have a time limit of 1 hour and are reserved for HHS government-owned or leased vehicles and for private vehicles that display a valid official use permit.

FME spaces are for use by HHS government-owned or leased vehicles issued to Facilities and Maintenance Engineering (FME) while performing maintenance activities.

RESERVED spaces are reserved for the use of senior management as authorized by the Chief, Management Operations Support Branch (Bldg. 427).

Violations
Protective Services will issue parking violation warnings in accordance with the NCI-Frederick Parking Policy (No. 651, 1/8/98). In addition, Fort Detrick Police will issue monetary fines for violations of Fort Detrick parking regulations, which NCI-Frederick employees are required to observe. These violations include:

  • blocking fire lanes and driveways
  • parking within loading zone limits
  • parking illegally in a handicap space
  • obstructing fire hydrants
  • parking in roadways or non-designated areas.
