How to configure Eudora on a Mac osX for emergency emails


Instructions for creating a filter in Eudora for Mac OS X for an Emergency Notification Service email arrival.
(Will work in versions 5.x and 6.x)


Start from the basic Eudora screen.





Step 1. Go to the Window menu and choose Filters.






Step 2. The Filters window will appear. (basic Filters window shown below)





Step 3. Click the New button in the lower left hand corner of the Filters window.




Step 4. In the upper left, you will see a new filter, "Untitled" has appeared. Click the pull down triangle immediately below the word Manual on the right.




Step 5. Choose "From:" in the pull-down menu




Step 6. In the box immediately below "From:", type ens@mail.ncifcrf.gov. Then click on the pull-down menu with "ignore" as the current selection. Choose "or" in the pull-down menu. as seen in Step 7.




Step 7. Select 'or' from the drop down box.




Step 8. Immediately below where you have chosen "or" use the pull-down triangle to select "From:"





Step 9. In the box immediately below the "From:" you just selected, type ens@ncifcrf.gov. (This is to be certain your filter works if the ENS message comes from either address)




Step 10. In the section marked Actions:, use the first pull-down menu (with "None" in it) to choose "Open"






Step 11. After selecting "Open" two check boxes will appear. Put a check in the box for "Message"




Step 12. Use the second pull-down menu in the Actions: section and choose "Play Sound".




Step 13. "Play Sound" appears as the selection in that pull-down and "Eudora Attention" appears next to it as the default alert sound.




Step 14. It is recommended that you use the pull-down to choose another sound for the ENS filter to differentiate from other filter and mail alerts.





Step 15. You have completed the steps to create an ENS filter. Your Filters window should look something like the one below. Please click the red circle in the upper left hand corner of the Filters window to save your filter. You will be prompted to save your filter.




Step 16. Click the Save button when prompted.



You have successfully created a filter for ENS email message alerts.
