Tobacco use at the NCI-Frederick
POLICY
In accordance with Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) policy effective
January 1, 2005, the NCI-Frederick campus is a tobacco free workplace. Use of
tobacco in any form is prohibited on the entire NCI-Frederick campus (see
Attachment I – Facility Map). This includes use in personal vehicles
while on NCI-Frederick property and all government vehicles, regardless of their
location.
At NCI-Frederick offsite locations where the external spaces (i.e. parking
lots) are not leased or owned by the Government, or leased by the NCI-Frederick
Operations and Technical Support Contractor, individuals will be expected to
comply with local rules and posted directives regarding the use of tobacco.
Scope
This policy applies to all personnel at the NCI-Frederick campus, Government,
contractors, subcontractors, visitors, vendors and guests.
This policy also applies to all NCI-Frederick Government owned or leased facilities/properties
external to the main NCI - Frederick campus.
Responsibilities
Managers and supervisors at all levels are responsible
for the enforcement of this policy. Failure to comply with this Policy will
lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Occupational Health Services will maintain a Tobacco Cessation Program available
to all NCI-Frederick employees.
