Policy No. 322
11/2/07
EMPLOYEE/MANAGEMENT COMMUNICATION
POLICY
It is the policy of the National Cancer Institute at Frederick (NCI-Frederick) contractor management to encourage open channels of communication between employees and management when seeking resolution to workplace issues. Open communication allows for a work environment of mutual trust and confidence.
PROCEDURE
Whenever possible, employees should try to resolve workplace issues with their immediate supervisor. If a matter is not resolved to an employee’s satisfaction, or there is a need to register the concern with someone other than the immediate supervisor, the employee may register his or her concern with another member of management, with a Human Resources representative or, if applicable, through the contractor’s Employee Dispute Resolution Program.
The Human Resources representative may conduct an investigation of the problem or complaint for resolution and appropriate action.
Nothing in this policy prohibits an employee from filing a charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), a comparable state agency, or any other government regulatory body, alleging a violation of one of the laws it enforces.
RESPONSIBILILTY
NCI-Frederick Contractors
Each contractor is responsible for implementing and maintaining procedures to ensure compliance with this policy and to provide employee/management communication mechanisms that minimize employee dissatisfaction and facilitate timely resolution.
Contractor management will take appropriate action to ensure compliance with the policy, federal and state laws, and appropriate regulations.
